An e-Visa, also known as Travel Authority (ETA Visa), gives travelers the ability to obtain their visas quickly and efficiently, without having to send their physical passport. An e-Visa applicant will submit a copy of the passport, along with all the other requirements such as the visa application, passport picture, etc. via email. An e-Visa is usually good for a short-term, limited validity stay, and for tourism or business purposes only. For this reason, most countries that offer e-Visas can usually process the e-Visa on an expedited quick turn-around, in some cases as little as 24 hours. Those applying for longer-term extended stay visas, and other types of visa categories such as employment, residency, performance or student visas, would need to apply for a traditional visa. Please note: not all countries offer e-Visas.
